Laura Hurcomb was born in Los Angeles California USA in 1963. To Parents of very different back grounds which gave her a unique point of view. Her parents divorced and her mother moved the small family back to Kansas were Laura grew up. She married young and had two children whom she stayed at home with until they were school aged. When she sent the youngest off to first grade she returned to her own education.
Laura was educated in Kansas City attending, Johnson County Community College then transferring to the Kansas City Art Institute on a scholarship for sculpture graduating with a B.F.A. Next she attended the University of MO in Kansas City graduating with a Masters in Studio Art, Photography. She then suddenly became a young widow after 20 years of marriage.
Laura worked in portraits studios as a digital imager and then at the University of Mo in Kansas City teaching Photography.
Laura describes herself as a problem solver and habitual image maker who is always obsessively compulsively creating with whatever is at hand. She works in a wide variety of media from digital to clay. Laura freelances doing photography, digital Imaging, and painting.
